I T C A “photo studio” was constructed inside of a 3-D program. Basically, an immense cylinder containing a camera and light sources. Photographs were "wrapped" around a light as if it were a large flexible cel. The image was then projected on the cylinder wall, super-enlarged and warped by the curvature of the cylinder. The virtual camera could be swung around in any direction to focus in on a small portion of the projected image. The lighting, curve and material of the wall, camera angle and focus, were controlled by numerous variables. Secondary light sources that projected additional images were also used, creating superimposition and compositing. The prints were made on dampened Hahnemuhle fine art paper passed through an Epson R2400 ink jet printer. |
