p o l y h a i k u The starting point is "Haiku Blocks"—rectangular symbols, arbitrary and non-representational. Combined into pairs, they then are assigned an image to represent. They are arranged in five lines to create an encoding for five images. The pairing and sequence of Haiku Blocks are chosen randomly using a script that creates the sequence and places it within an Adobe Illustrator document. The color palette is also determined randomly in this way. The images which correspond to the sequence are then copied to a folder to be worked on within Adobe Photoshop. The prints are made on dampened Hahnemuhle fine art paper passed through an Epson R2400 ink jet printer. This series is still progress.
